Al Zulfi Hospital Celebrates “International Day of Radiology (IDOR)” 

Al-Zulfi General Hospital has witnessed significant advancements in the Radiology Department over the past two years, marked by notable improvements in service quality and operational efficiency. This progress comes as a result of expanding diagnostic imaging services and updating equipment and modern technologies across all units.

The development is attributed to the dedicated efforts of the medical, technical, and administrative teams within the department, who worked collaboratively to achieve outstanding performance that contributes to elevating the quality of healthcare services. The department’s operation through Altakassusi Alliance Medical Company, in cooperation with the Second Health Cluster in Riyadh, has also played a key role in enhancing service levels in alignment with the goals of the Ministry of Health and Saudi Vision 2030.

On this occasion, the hospital extends its sincere appreciation to radiology heroes on their International Day, acknowledging their ongoing dedication, their contributions to patient care, and their support in advancing healthcare development.

Radiology Department Awareness Activities in Celebration of World Radiology Day

The Radiology Department at KFMC conducted a two-day awareness program in celebration of World Radiology Day, through a visit to two elementary schools targeting students aged 6 to 11. The initiative aimed to introduce children to the field of radiology and highlight its essential role in diagnosis, treatment, and patient reassurance.

The program included an introductory presentation, viewing of real radiology images, interactive discussions, and a hands-on ultrasound demonstration in a safe and engaging environment. The positive impact of the activity was evident, with one student expressing his appreciation by saying, “You made my day!”

October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Hospital (PMAH), the Mammogram Department, under the leadership of 

Dr. Abeer Almousa, launched a powerful campaign to educate, empower, and encourage early detection.

The month-long initiative featured awareness sessions, interactive booths, and community outreach activities highlighting the life-saving importance of early screening, especially for women over 40 or those with a family history of breast cancer.

Dr. Aljabr Speaks at Pediatric Pulmonary Conference in Riyadh

The AART Review Course marks a significant milestone as it is the first session conducted under the esteemed AART Academy. This innovative collaboration brings together top-tier radiology residents from major hospitals in Riyadh, including our very own Cluster II at King Faisal Medical City (KFMC) in Riyadh, as well as King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, King Abdulaziz Medical City, Prince Sultan Military Medical City, King Saud University Medical City, King Saud Medical City, Security Forces, and KAAUH. 

Purpose of the course

Additionally, the course offers an approach to identifying pathology, discussing differential diagnoses, and outlining next steps in patient management. Our goal is to help residents become more confident and well-prepared for their exams and future careers.

This course provides an extensive review for radiology residents at all levels, including AART residents and senior residents from hospitals in Riyadh. It focuses on important cases across all subspecialties and prepares residents for the board exam, covering various modalities.

Over four engaging days, participants will delve into essential subspecialties such as Abdominal Imaging, Musculoskeletal Imaging, Neuro Radiology, Chest Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, Pediatric Imaging, and Interventional Radiology. This groundbreaking course not only prepares residents for their promotion exams but also fosters a vibrant community of future leaders in radiology, all while benefiting from the rigorous standards and expertise of AART Academy.

💉 In response to the increasing need for blood donations, King Faisal Specialist Hospital Company organized a blood donation initiative Thursday, Augast 7, 2025 at the company premises, in collaboration with the Blood Bank.

On Monday, July 21, 2025, Radiology department at Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Hospital held a ceremony for the second batch of internship students, in the presence of Mr. Abdullah Alkhamees, Radiology Manager at PMAH, in recognition of their successful training journey and the dedication and commitment they demonstrated throughout the program.

The ceremony highlighted the outstanding performance of the interns and served as a reminder of the great responsibility they carry in the future — to provide high-quality healthcare and contribute to advancing the level of medical services across the Kingdom.

This initiative comes as part of the ongoing collaboration between the Second Health Cluster (RC2) and Altakassusi Alliance Medical (AAML), aiming to empower national talents and make a meaningful impact on the quality of healthcare provided in Saudi Arabia.

 في يوم الإثنين الموافق 21 يوليو 2025، أقام قسم الأشعة في مستشفى الأمير محمد بن عبدالعزيز حفل للدفعة الثانية من طلاب الامتياز، وذلك بحضور الأستاذ عبدالله الخميس، مدير الأشعة بالمستشفى، احتفاءً بنجاح رحلتهم التدريبية وما قدموه من التزام وجهود ملموسة خلال فترة التدريب.

تخلل الحفل تسليط الضوء على الأداء المتميز للمتدربين، بالإضافة إلى تذكيرهم بالمسؤولية المستقبلية الملقاة على عاتقهم في تقديم رعاية صحية عالية الجودة، تسهم في رفع مستوى الخدمة الصحية في المملكة.

The Radiology Department at King Fahad Medical City is actively participating in the "Choosing Wisely" initiative to promote healthcare provider awareness around the appropriate use of diagnostic radiological studies. We believe this initiative can be even more impactful when fully aligned with the patient’s clinical assessment, as clinical history and evaluation is sufficient to guide the requesting physician in choosing the appropriate imaging procedure and avoiding unnecessary choices.

On Saturday, May 31st, AAML contributed to a specialized workshop conducted by Dr. Ahmed AlDraihem in Aljouf Province, combining a lecture and hands-on training focused on Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH). The session highlighted the importance of early screening to improve child health outcomes and reduce long-term treatment costs.

Participants received an in-depth overview of the Graf classification system and its clinical use. With Aljouf’s high birth rate, expanding DDH screening was emphasized as a public health priority.

The workshop concluded with practical ultrasound training on pre-booked patients. Radiologists from all four towns in the region took part, enhancing their diagnostic skills and supporting stronger local screening programs.

We are pleased to announce a collaborative training initiative between the Radiology (AAML) and Emergency Departments at Al Zulfi Hospital, aimed at enhancing clinical competencies and advancing patient care. This initiative focuses on the FAST (Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma) ultrasound technique, a critical tool in the rapid assessment of trauma patients.

Comprehensive training sessions were delivered to all Emergency Department physicians by Dr. Shaimaa Ahmed and Mr. Khalifa Alkhalifa, Senior Sonographer.

The primary objective of this initiative is to reduce diagnostic delays in trauma cases by equipping clinicians with the expertise to quickly identify critical ultrasound findings. By integrating FAST as a key component in emergency triage, the program is expected to significantly enhance decision-making and improve patient outcomes.

We are proud to be part of the international GE Command Center ecosystem. Recently, we had the opportunity to present our Command Center, proudly showcasing our mission, vision, and goals as the first dedicated radiology command center in the Middle East. The presentation was well-received, marking a strong start to our journey.

This week, we met with key GE leaders and project managers from across the Middle East to align on shared objectives and explore future collaboration. This marks the beginning of what promises to be a long and fruitful partnership, with much success ahead.

We also took the time to discuss the implementation of various solutions, addressing both the achievements and the areas that still need improvement. This collaborative dialogue ensures that we are on the right track to enhance our services and meet all evolving needs.

One of the most impressive aspects of our discussions was the recognition of how far we’ve come in such a short period. The level of progress we’ve achieved in launching and implementing the command center was truly appreciated by all. The positive impact on the efficiency of our radiology services and the noticeable improvement in patient outcomes were highlighted as key successes. It was inspiring to see the acknowledgment of how effectively the command center is working and how it has contributed to the rapid progression of our services.

Looking ahead, we are excited to continue working closely with all stakeholders, ensuring that the solutions we implement align with the broader goals of improving patient experience and operational efficiency. Together, we are laying the foundation for lasting success and innovation within the region.

Aligned with our mission to support regional medical advancement, our specialized team participated in a focused workshop on Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) at Khoula Hospital. 

This collaborative initiative aimed to share expertise, enhance diagnostic capabilities, and strengthen professional ties between our institutions in the pursuit of excellence in neuroimaging services.

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia—21st April 2025—Altakassusi Alliance Medical AAML successfully hosted a two-day leadership retreat this past weekend at Al Bustan Village. Thirty professionals from across its network participated in a transformative experience centered on leadership development, strategic alignment, and team cohesion.

The retreat allowed participants to step back from day-to-day responsibilities and engage in a shared space of reflection, collaboration, and growth. Through interactive team-building activities, strategic planning sessions, and dynamic discussions, attendees explored the evolving nature of leadership in today’s rapidly changing world.
